Maren Parise is a 16 year old sophomore and a company member with Juneau Dance Theatre. She has been dancing for 9 years and focuses mainly on ballet but has studied various styles, including jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop, character, and improv. Maren has performed in many productions of JDT’s, The Nutcracker, dancing many roles, such as Clara, Marzipan Lead, Arabian, Spanish, Snow corps, Dew Drop, and more. She has also performed in many of JDT’s spring showcases, performing roles, such as Myrtha from Giselle, Big/Little Swans from Swan Lake, Canary fairy from Sleeping Beauty, and many neoclassical/contemporary pieces choreographed by numerous guest choreographers. Maren has attended many summer ballet programs, including Joffrey South in 2015, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre in 2016 and ‘18, Leslie Hench’s Ribbon Mill Ballet in 2017, and Juneau Dance Theatre’s in 2016, ‘17, and ‘18. Maren plans on staying in Juneau for another year and then hopes to pursue her goal of becoming a professional ballet dancer by attending a pre-professional ballet program for her last two years of high school.
